When the flush of a newborn sun fell first on Eden's green and gold,Our father Adam sat under the Tree and scratched with a stick in the mold; And the first rude sketch that the world had seen was joy to his mighty heart, Till the Devil whispered behind the leaves: "It's pretty, but is it Art?" (Rudyard Kipling)
Contemporary is the one who keeps his eye fix on its time to perceive not light, but darkness. Contemporary is the one who receive on his face the ray of darkness which comes from its time.(Giorgio Agamben)
From May 2 to 5 we had our first creative residency and the first show - actually the preview-performance - in the frame of the 19th edition of Fabbrica Europa Festival in Florence. In this interdisciplinary project every participant was involved to create this first step of our improvisation-based show on cultural diversity, urban environment and visions of a future Europe. Using the artistic materials created by the national groups before and during the residency we started to develop a common artistic language, the codes and signs for improvise on stage.
During these days at youth and music centre Sonoria by the public library BiblioteCaNova, we had a possibility to develop the show and to have an rehearsal opened to the youngsters and locals (4th May). The show was presented on the next day at Le Murate, in collaboration with Caffè Letterario. The lovely courtyard where the café is situated was a prison before but now includes a beautiful café, galeries and officies. It was a pleasure for us and luckily we had a big audience. The first part of the show, which was based mostly on a choreography which involved plastic textiles gave the atmosphere for the whole performance which was finally one hour long. We skipped some elements of the structure what we made before but we will increase them for the final performances that will be presented in August in Budapest in the frame of Sziget Festival, and in autumn in Bucharest.
