I’m Petra Horvath, 20 years old, born in Zalaegerszeg, live in Budapest.
I’ve been dancing for 12 years (modern, contemporary and show dance)
In 2008/2009 I was a member of the Hevesi Sándor Theatre’s company.
It was a very adventurous way, while I found the genre, in which can really express myself.
After 8 years athletic, I’d a serious foot injury at the age of 14 and after the surgery I haven’t dared to return to the track. Meanwhile 6 years dance was already behind me. I completed the basic school of art but the dancing was no more for me than recreation, fun and meeting friends. The year of surgery the dance was also paused and then I realized how much is missing and important to me….
In September 2004 came a new modern dance teacher whose movements, style, enthusiasm and the teaching method is very liked. Something inexplicable thing happened to me. Since then, almost all my energy invested in the dance and I learned a lot during that year. She saw my enthusiasm and offered me to dance two other groups, may be the youngest member of the Albatrosz Dance Group.
Fortunately, I managed to convince my parents (though it was difficult) that life has no worth without art and for me the dance can give a lot of energy. From that moment they supported me in everything.
I came to know a lot of new people and joined a completely different milieu. From the first moment I knew, I'm on the right track, and there are no coincidences :)
I went to dance four times a week. We prepared a lot of competitions, did own choreographies and even I had trio and solo, which also achieved good results
One year I taught dance for children 7-11 years, which was especially a great experience. I loved them!
In 2008, I applied for dancer in the Chicago ( a piece in the Theatre of Hevesi Sándor).
I got into the company – so I’ve been a member of another team and I’ve learned a lot from them. It was an exciting year – graduation, dance and theatre :)
In Budapest I still haven’t been found the band, which would continue the dance. Currently, I go to courses and try new styles (salsa, jazz).
I think an important and decisive stage of my life has been exceeded. I have gained significant self-knowledge through my friends and dance and I feel that a new chapter begins here, in the capital. The world is dilated, I’ve more freedom. So I’d like to look further in the world.
This year in October I took part in the Roots & Routes program. I spend with immigrant youth a fantastic week and met very special and valuable people who still keep in touch.
I'd like to participate in the new Art'n'go international projects, because I really enjoyed the Roots in September. It was great to work with young people who have other mother tongue, know them and realize that today there are no borders and distances, all up to you! :)
