ROOTS & ROUTES has been supporting young artists in the fields of music, dance and media, offering them the possibility to develop and professionalize for the past 10 years. The activities involve masterclasses by renowned artists, performances at various European festivals (a.o. Sziget Festival, Hipnotik, Brouhaha) and a booking agency: R&R Agency.
R&R started in 2001 in the context of Rotterdam Cultural Capital of Europe and since then has expanded its activities throughout Europe. R&R International Association currently has members in 12 European countries.
Within the frame of the 18th edition of Fabbrica Europa Festival in Florence, Italy, 50 young musicians, dancers and media makers from Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Sweden, UK, have presented the creation and production project Art’n’Go. New Routes to Intercultural Creativity .
In creative residencies throughout Europe, these young artists have designed and developed seven original productions combining music, dance, visuals and theatre, on the common theme of “(self)consciousness”. After previews in Vic, Pécs, Antwerp, Rotterdam and Bucharest, the live performances About Traffic, Braincheck, Coloured Life, Reality in Disguise, Traces, and the installation Ether Sides, have been presented on May 21 from 20.00 to 23.00 in a dedicated evening at the former railway station Stazione Leopolda.
The Art’n’Go productions will complete their tour on August 9 in Budapest, on Sziget Festival’s new Europe Stage.
